Tulsi legend and greatness

Tulsi legend and greatness

According to the legend, "Tulsi" originated from the nectar that was spilled on the earth during the churning of the ocean by the gods and demons. Brahmadeva entrusted him to Lord Vishnu. Hanuman was overjoyed to see Tulsi plant in Vibhishan's house in Lanka. It is said in the description of its glory, (Namayudh ankit gruh Shobha Varin na jai. Nava Tulsi ke vruind tanhdekhi harshi kapirayee) Padma Purana states that where there is a single plant of Tulsi. Brahma, Vishnu and Shankar also reside there. The service of Tulsi also destroys the superpowers in the same way as the darkness of the sun is destroyed. God does not accept the Prasad which does not have a Tulsi leaves. During the worship of Lord Vishnu, Yogeshwar Krishna and Pandurang (Shri Balaji), a necklace of Tulsi leaves is offered to his idols.

Believing Tulsi as having been blessed with divine qualities, a lot has been written about it in spiritual texts.  Tulsi is a mine of medicines.  For this reason, Tulsi is referred to as 'Mahaaushadhi' in the Atharvaveda.  It is called 'Haripriya' in Sanskrit.  The origin of this drug took away the mind and anguish of Lord Vishnu, which is why it has been given this name.  It is believed that all the shrines are located in the root of Tulsi, all the devi-goddesses in the middle and all the Vedas in the upper branches.  Visiting Tulsi every day is considered sinful and worshiping is liberating.  Tulsi is essential in Devpuja and Shraddhkarma.  Worshiping with Tulsi leaves achieves the virtue of fasting, yagna, chanting, home, havan.  It is said that those whose dead body is burnt by the fire of Tulsi wood, they attain moksha, they are not reborn.  The Tulsi purity is considered to be the purity of the Tulsi containing water to the patient lying on the dead bed at the end of the life and it is believed that the person gets salvation.

Tulsi - Vrinda Sri Krishna is considered to be the beloved of God and by offering it to the Lord, the lovers of God accept it as Prasad. Even if flowers made of gold, gems, pearls are offered to Shri Krishna, they are incomplete without Tulsi leave . Shri Krishna or Vishnu do not accept Naivedya without being tempted by Tulsi leaves. This plant is specially worshiped by women. Good family women, good luck, for the prosperity of the offspring, basil Tulsi)- watering the plant, worshiping Roli Akshat and lighting the lamp and praying in prayer, says good luck, children , money grain and forever. By the way, the basil of Tulsi is worshiped throughout the year, but especially in Kartik month.

The significance of worshiping Lord Vishnu with Tulsi leaves in Kartik month is indescribable.

                       TULSI

Dharmadhvaj's wife's name was Madhavi and daughter's name was Tulsi. She was very beautiful. As soon as she was born, she became a woman and started doing austerities in Badrinath. Brahma appeared and asked her to ask for the boon . She told Brahma that she was the friend of Shri Krishna in the previous birth. Radha cursed him to go to his deathbed after seeing him engrossed in the ritual with Krishna. He did penance of Brahma with the inspiration of Krishna, so from Brahma, he again asked for the boon of getting Shri Krishna as a husband. Brahma said - You are expelled from Golok and Sudama  also become a caste caste, accept her as a husband. You will be famous in Vrindavan by the name of Tulsi or Vrindavani after taking the tree form from the curse part of Narayana. No worship of Shri Krishna will be possible without you. You will also love Radha. Brahma gave him the Shodhakshara Radha Mantra. Second story: A demon named Mahayogi Shankhachud, after getting Krishnamantra from Maharishi Jeevishvya, entered Badrinath. Upon meeting unmatchable Beautiful Tulsi, he told that he had reached there to marry her by Brahma's orders. Tulsi married her. They started living as the rulers of the demons.

When the infestation of Sankhchud increased a lot, one day Hari gave his shul and asked Shiva to kill the Sankhchud. Shiva attacked him. Everyone considered that it is impossible to kill Sankhchud as long as his wife is high integrity power and has the armor given to him by Narayana. Hence Narayan went as an old Brahmin and asked him for alms. Wearing the shell of Shankhchud and making it his own form, he proclaimed victory over his gods by playing a dandubhi in front of his house. In the impulse of happiness, Tulsi confronts him. Subsequently, recognizing Vishnu and destroying the husbandry religion, he cursed - "You become a stone. You have cheated your wife for the abuses of your devotee to please the gods." Shiva appeared and mitigated his anger and said- "This body of yours will be with a river called Gandak and a holy tree named Tulsi which will be make from your hair, now you will stay with a saligram made of Vishnu's share. By your curse Vishnu will be of stone on the banks of the Gandaki river and you will be basil. As you will climb on them. Shankhchud was Sudama in the previous birth, you forget it and abandon this body, now you stay with Lakshmipati Vishnu. Take all Tulsi As holiest tree issues remain. " Shiva disappeared and Tulsi left the body and went to Baikuntha. It is said that since then, the Saligram form of Vishnu started to be worshiped with Tulsi leaves. Shri Krishna worshiped Tulsi on the full moon day of Kartik and placed it in Goloka, hence it is considered the birthday of Tulsi. Initially, Lakshmi and Ganga had accepted it, but Saraswati was very angry. Tulsi entered into Vrindavan after ingestion from there. Therefore they are also called Vrinda. The place where Tulsi grows in abundance is called Vrindavan. In the name of this Vrinda, the Leela land of Shri Krishna was named Vrindavan. Narayan again found him and made him befriend Saraswati. She is also known as Nandini because she is Anandayini (Pleasure giver) for all.

"How Tulsi and Shaligram got married"

"How Tulsi and Shaligram got married"

According to religious belief, Lord Vishnu wakes up from sleep on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi.  Auspicious works also begin on this day.  There are many traditions associated with Devauthani Ekadashi.  One such tradition is Tulsi-Shaligram marriage.  Shaligram is considered to be a form of Lord Vishnu.

According to Shivmahapuran, in ancient times, the king of the demons was Dambha.  He was a Vishnubhakta(Lord Vishnu devotee) .  For a long time, when he did not have a son, he made Shukracharya, the guru of the demons, to receive Sri Krishna mantra from him and went to Pushkar and meditated.  Pleased with his penance, Lord Vishnu granted him the boon of being a son.  Son of Dambha was born here as a boon to Lord Vishnu.  (In fact, he was a pope named Sudama, the pioneer of the councilors of Shri Krishna, who was cursed by Radha to be born in the Asura Yoni) It was named Shankhchud.  When Shankhchud grew up, he went to Pushkar and did austerities to please Brahma.  Pleased with the penance of Shankhchud, Brahma appeared and asked to the boon .  Then Shankhchud asked for a boon that I should be invincible to the gods.  Brahmaji gave him a boon and said that you go to Badarivan.  There, Tulsi, the daughter of Dharmadhvaja is doing penance, marry her.

At the behest of Brahmaji, Shankchud went to Badrivan.  He was also fascinated to see Tulsi doing penance there.  Then Lord Brahma came there and asked Shankhchud to marry Tulsi by Gandharva method.  Shankhchud did this.  In this way, Shankhchud and Tulsi started to do the live happily.  Shankhchud was very brave.  He had the boon that even the gods would not be able to beat him.  He conquered the gods, demons(Rakshas, Daitya, Daanav) , Gandharvas, serpents, eunuchs, humans and all beings of universe with his strength.  Everyone was happy in his kingdom.  He was always absorbed in devotion to Lord Krishna.  When the heaven came out of hand, the deity went to Brahmaji and Brahmaji took him and went to Lord Vishnu.  Hearing the talk of the gods, Lord Vishnu said that the death of Shankhchud is determined by the trident of Lord Shiva.  Knowing this, all the gods came to Lord Shiva.  Hearing the talk of the gods, Lord Shiva sent a Chitraratha named Gana as his messenger and sent it to Shankhchud.  Chitraratha explained to Shankhachud that he should return the kingdom to the gods, but Shankhachud said that I would not return the kingdom to the gods without going to war with Mahadev.

When Lord Shiva came to know about this, he set out with his army to fight.  Shankhchud too came to the battlefield, ready for war.  Immediately there was a fierce battle between the gods and the demons.  Gods were unable to defeat Shankhchud due to boon.  The war of Shankhchud and the gods lasted for hundreds of years.  In the end, as soon as Lord Shiva raised his trident to kill Shankhachud, then Akashvani said that - As long as Shankhachud has Srihari's armor in his hand and his wife's integrity is unbroken, it will not be possible.  Hearing Akashvani, Lord Vishnu, taking the form of an old Brahmin, went to Shankhchud and asked him to donate Srihari armor.  Shankhchud donated that armor without hesitation.  After this, Lord Vishnu took the form of Shankhachud and went to Tulsi.
After going there, Lord Vishnu in the form of Shankhchud informed the victory of his by going to the gate of Tulsi's palace.  Hearing this, Tulsi was very happy and worshiped and delighted the Lord in the form of husband.  Lord Shiva killed Shankhchud with his trident in battle as soon as Tulsi's sativa(integrity) dissolved.  After some time Tulsi came to know that it is not my husband , then God came in his original form.  Knowing the deceit with her, Shankchhud's wife started crying.  He said- Today you have deceitfully destroyed my religion and killed my husband .  You are definitely a stone heart, so you will now be a stone (stone) from my curse and stay on earth.

Then Lord Vishnu said- Goddess. You have done penance for me for a long time living in India. Now you renounce this body and wear a divine body and live happily with me. This body of yours will be changed into river form and become famous as river named Gandaki. You will become the best Tulsi tree in flowers and will always be with me. I will remain as a stone (shaligram) to make your curse come true. I will live on the banks of the Gandaki River. The crores of insects living in the river will bite with their sharp teeth and mark my chakra in that stone. Religious peoples will earn virtue by marrying Tulsi plant and Shaligram sila. According to tradition, on the day of Devprabodhini Ekadashi, the marriage of Lord Shaligram and Tulsi is done and Manglik works are started. It is believed that by getting a Tulsi-Shaligram marriage, a person attains incredible virtue.

The festival of Tulsi worship and Tulsi marriage is celebrated throughout the year of India on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month.
It is said that in Kartik month, all the sins of people who marry Tulsi in their previous lives are destroyed.

It is described in the scriptures that on the Ekadashi (Devsayni Ekadshi) of Ashadha month Shukla Paksha, Lord Vishnu sleeps in Kshirsagar for four months and awakes on Ekadashi of Kartik month Shukla Paksha.

Srihari Vishnu, the Palanhar of the world, is considered a witness in all auspicious works.
But in his sleep (Chaturmas), the auspicious work of marriage etc. is stopped.
Therefore, the law to perform all auspicious work of Hindus in the awakened state of Lord Vishnu is described in the scriptures.

According to the mythology of Padmapurana, Lord Vishnu became a stone due to the curse of Vrinda, wife of King Jalandhar, due to which the Lord is also called Shaligram, and devotees worship him in this form as well.

To get rid of this curse, Lord Vishnu had to marry Tulsi in his Shaligram form and from that time on the Ekadashi of Shuklapaksha of Kartik month, Tulsi marriage is celebrated.
According to ancient texts, Tulsi is established on the Navami of Kartik Shukla Paksha and they are married to Tulsi on the day of Ekadashi by making a statue of Lord Vishnu.
Tulsi marriage celebrated on Devothan Ekadashi is a purely auspicious and spiritual affair.

Actually, Tulsi is also called Vishnu Priya. When the gods wake up, the first prayer is heard of Harivallabha Tulsi.
That is why Tulsi marriage is considered to be the reception of the holy muhurat of Dev Jagran.
Tulsi Marriage directly means the calling of God through Tulsi.
Some people worship Tulsi from Ekadashi to Purnima and perform Tulsi marriage on the fifth day.
The event is exactly the same as a normal bride and groom is married by Hindu custom.
Sanatan religious groups cleans the house on the occasion of this auspicious event celebrated on the day of Devprabodhini Ekadashi and

The pavilion, bridesmaid, kanyadaan, havan and then preeti-bhoja(banquet), everything is performed with traditional customs.
In this marriage, Shaligram plays the role of groom and Tulsi is bride.

On this day, the Tulsi plant ie bride is covered with red chunri-odhni.
In a Tulsi wedding, all the sixteen makeup items are kept for offering.
Yajman with Shaligram Ji in both hands
As a groom, as Lord Vishnu, and the wife of Yajman, take the plant of Tulsi in both hands and take seven rounds of fire.
After marriage, a banquet is organized.
Couples who do not have children, or who do not have a girl child, should get the virtue of Kanyadaan by marrying Tulsi once in their life.
By performing Tulsi marriage, one gets a virtue similar to Kanyadaan.

By duly worshiping Tulsi marriage on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled.
According to our Sanatan Sanskar(tradition), Tulsi is worshiped in every house in the form of Goddess.
