Panchmukhi Shiva

Panchmukhi Shiva

On Mahashivaratri, special Shiva is also called Sahasramukhi i.e. thousand mouths, but mainly Shiva is Panchmukhi. Shiva runs the world through these five heads. Shiva's favorite number is five. Shiva is centrist . That is, neither of the devas nor of the asuras. He is in the middle, he can get whatever he wants. When zero exploded, nine numbers came out of it - one to nine.

Five is the middle number. Shiva's favorite mantra is Namo Shivaaya. It also has only five letters, that is why it is called 'Panchakshara Mantra'. Shiva is the deity of the five elements. The senses are also five and Shiva is also the master of the senses. According to numerology, if someone's fortune digit is five, then he should worship Shiva specially. Shiva is quickly pleased at that.

 According to Shivpuran, his five mouths and their qualities are

Ishaan

 This is the face of the game. All the entertainment, sports, science etc. are all conducted by this mouth of Shiva.

Tatpurush

 It is the face of penance. Every work done for cultivation, study, writing, desire and goal is conducted from this mouth.

Aghor

 It is the raudra form of Shiva. The wars, disasters, deaths that occur in the whole world are due to this mouth of Shiva. It also does justice and can punish sin. This is why Aghor-worship is done for disaster peace . It is the middle mouth of Shiva. Both the above faces are to the right of Shiva.

Vamdev

 This is the form of egoism. The first face of Shiva's left. Our ego, pride, love, worldly desire , attachment etc. are seen in this world due to this mouth.

Sadyojat

 It is the face of knowledge. It is an overbearing form of Shiva. This form of Shiva is worshiped the most.

Five acts of Shiva

 Shiva runs the whole world with five activities. These are the five works - creation, observance, destruction, nigrah i.e. love and anugrah i.e. grace. These five works are done by their five faces.

|| Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga ||

 This Jyotirlinga mountain is located on the top of the Himalayas called Kedar. In the Puranas and Shastras, the glory of Shri Kedareshwar-Jyotirlinga has been described repeatedly. The natural beauty of the place is seen here. The temple of Kedareshwar Mahadev situated on the banks of Punyamati Mandakini river in the western part of this peak, by its form, gives us the message of moving towards religion and spirituality.

To the east of the peak is the most famous temple of Badrinath on the picturesque banks of Alaknanda. Alaknanda and Mandakini - These two rivers join at Rudraprayag below. This combined stream of both rivers comes down to Devprayag and joins the Bhagirathi Ganga. In this way, those who bathe in His Holiness Gangaji also get a touch of water washing the feet of Shri Kedareshwar and Badrinath.

The legend is described in the Puranas about the establishment of this extremely holy virtuous Jyotirlinga - the great land of the ancient jewels, the abode of the holy, ascetics, sages, siddhas, deities, the great land of the Himalayas called Kedar of the Himalayas, the great sage Shriner and Narayana. He practiced very difficult penance to please Lord Shiva for many years.

For several thousand years, he continued to chant the name Shiva, standing on one foot, without food. With this austerity, he was discussed in all the realms. The deity, sage-monk, Yaksha, Gandharva all began to praise his practice and restraint. Lord Brahma, the father of the pasture, and Lord Vishnu, who brought up all of them, also began to praise the asceticism of Mahatapasvi Nara-Narayana, in the end, Lord Shankarji too became pleased with his difficult meditation. He appeared directly and appeared to both those sages.

Nar and Narayan worshiped Lord Bhole Nath with a wide variety of sacred hymns and mantras, with a vision of Lord Bholenath. Lord Shiva was very pleased and asked him to ask for the boons . Hearing this talk of Lord Shiva, both sages said to him, 'Devadhidev Mahadev! If you are happy with us, then for the welfare of the devotees, please always establish your form here forever.

By staying here, this place will become very holy in all ways. The people who worship you here will receive your Avinashini devotion. God You must accept our request to establish your form here for the welfare and salvation of human beings. '

|| Shri Omkareshwar-Shri Mamaleshwar Jyotirlinga ||

|| Shri Omkareshwar-Shri Mamaleshwar Jyotirlinga ||

 This Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of the holy Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh. At this place, Narmada has split into two streams, forming an island in the middle. This island is called Mandhata-Parvat or Shivpuri. A stream of river flows north and south of this mountain.
The south current is considered the main stream. The temple of Shri Omkareshwar-Jyotirlinga is situated on this Mandhata-Parvat. In the past, Maharaj Mandhata pleased Lord Shiva with his penance on this mountain. This is why this mountain came to be called Mandhata-Parvat.

Within this Jyotirlinga-temple one has to go through two chambers. Due to being dark inside, the light keeps on burning here. Omkareshwar Linga is not man-made. Nature itself has created it. There is always water around it. The entire Mandhata-Parvat is considered to be the form of Lord Shiva. That is why it is also called Shivpuri. People revolve around it devotionally.
Located on the banks of river Narmada.  At this place, Narmada has split into two streams, forming an island in the middle.  This island is called Mandhata-Parvat or Shivpuri.  One stream of the river flows north and the other south.

A very heavy fair is held here on the day of Kartiki Purnima. Here people offer gram lentils (Chana daal) to Lord Shiva, the Shiva Aarti of the night is celebrated with great grandeur. Pilgrims must visit it.
There are two forms of this Omkareshwar-Jyotling. One is known as Mamaleshwar. It is a short distance away from Omkareshwar on the south bank of the Narmada, despite being separated, both are calculated in one.

The story of the Linga having two forms is given in the Puranas in this way - Once Vindhyaparvat worshiped Lord Shiva for six months with Parthiv-Archana. Pleased with his worship, the lord Shankaraji appeared there. He gave Vindhya his desired  boon . On the occasion of this boon achievement of Vindhyachal, many sages and sages also appeared there. On his prayer, Shivji performed two parts of his linga called Omkareshwar. One was named Omkareshwar and the other was Amaleshwar. Even though the place and temple of both linga are separated, the power and nature of both have been considered the same.

The glory of this Jyotirlinga is described in detail in Shivpuran. The sacred result of Narmada-Snan is also described, showing the virtue of the philosophy of Shri Omkareshwar and Shri Mamaleshwar. Every human being must visit this region. The attainment of both cosmic and otherworldly gains is easily achieved by the grace of Lord Omkareshwar. All means of wealths , dharma , kama , salvation become readily accessible to him. Eventually he also attains the supreme abode of Lokeshwar Mahadev, Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva is going to bless the devotees without any reason. Then what is to be said about the fortunes of those who come here and see them? All the best virtuous paths are opened to them forever.

|| Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga ||

 This ultimate holy jyotirlinga is in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh.  Punyasilila (holy city) Ujjain situated on the banks of river Kshipra was famously known as Ujjayini in ancient times, it was also called Avantikapuri.  It is one of the most sacred Saptapuris of India.  The glory of the Mahakal Jyotirlinga is described in full detail in the Mahabharata, Shivpuran and Skandpuran.

The story of this Jyotirlinga is described in the Puranas as follows - In ancient times, King Chandrasen ruled in Ujjayini.  He was a supreme Shiva-devotee.  One day a five-year-old boy named Shrikar was passing by with his mother.  He was very astonished and bewildered upon seeing the king's Shivpujan.  He himself became eager to worship Shiv with the same type of materials.

When he could not find the material, he picked up a piece of stone from the path.  When he came home and installed the same stone as Shiva, he started worshiping it with flowers, sandalwood etc.  Mother came to call for food, but he was not prepared in any way to leave the puja.  In the end, Mata was afraid and picked up that piece of stone and threw it away.  Due to this, the child started crying crying loudly to Lord Shiva.  Finally he fainted crying and fell there.

Seeing this devotion and love towards the child, Lord Shiva became very happy.  As soon as the child came to his senses and opened his eyes, he saw that in front of him stands a very grand and immense temple made of gold and gems.  A very luminous, Attractive , stunning jyotirlinga stands inside that temple.  The child was overwhelmed with happiness and joy and started praising Lord Shiva.

When mother got this news, she ran and hugged her beloved son.  King Chandrasen also reached there and appreciated the devotion and accomplishment of that child.  Gradually a large crowd gathered there.  In this way Hanuman appeared at that place.  He said- 'Humans!  Lord Shankar is the first among the deities to give quick results.  Pleased with the devotion of this child, he has given it such a results, which even the great sages and sages are unable to achieve by the penance of millions of births.

The religious person Nandagop will be born in the eighth generation of this boy.  In Dwaparyug, Lord Vishnu will take Krishna avtaar and do various activities in his place .  Hanumanji became disappeared by saying this.  At that place Srikar Gop and King Chandrasen went to Shivdham while worshiping Lord Shiva from the rule.
A second story about this Jyotirlinga is said in this way- Vedpathi Taponistha was an extremely bright Brahmin in Avantikapuri.  One day a tyrannical asura named Dushan came there to disturb his penance.  He had become very powerful after receiving the boons from Brahma.  Her atrocities were all over the place.

Seeing the Brahmin in distress, Lord Shankar, who do human being welfare, appeared there. He incinerated the Darun tyrannical demon by burning it with just a laugh. God appeared there with a laughing , hence his name was Mahakal. That is why the Supreme Holy Jyotirlinga is known as 'Mahakal'.

||| Srimallikarjun Jyotirlinga Katha ||

|| Srimallikarjun Jyotirlinga ||

 Srimailakarjuna Jyotirlinga is situated on Srisailaparvat called Kailas of the south on the banks of Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh. Its glory and significance have been described in detail in the scriptures of Mahabharata, Shivpuran and Padmapuran.

The story of this Jyotirlinga is described in the Puranas as follows. Once upon a time, Lord Shiva's two sons Shriganesh and Srikartikeya Swamy started quarreling for marriage. Everyone insisted that I be married first.
Seeing them fighting and quarreling , Lord Shankar and Mother Bhavani said - Those of you who first go back here after circling the whole earth, will be married first. ' Hearing this from the parents, Srikartitikeya Swami is enthroned on his vehicle Mayur and immediately runs for Prithvi-pradakshina. But for Ganesha, this task was very difficult. One was his physical body, second his vehicle was also a mouse. Well, how could he be equal to Swami Kartikeya in the race?

But his body was heavy as  than in proportion to the intellect is very sharp . He found an easy way to revolve around the earth without worshiping the parents sitting in front of them and after doing their seven revolve around them , he completed the work of Prithvi-pradakshina. His work was scripturally approved

पित्रोश्च पूजनं कृत्वा प्रक्रान्तिं च करोति यः ।

तस्य वै पृथिवीजन्यं फलं भवति निश्चितम्‌ ॥

pitroshch poojanan krtva prakraantin ch karoti yah . tasy vai prthiveejanyan phalan bhavati nishchitam‌ .

By the time Swami Karttikeya returned around the whole earth, Ganesha was married to two girls named 'Siddhi' and 'Buddhi and had two sons named 'Kshem' and 'Laabh . Seeing all this, Swami Karthikeya went very angry and went to Mount Krauncha. Mother Parvati reached there to appease him. After that Lord Shankar appeared there as Jyotirlinga and since then he became famous as Mallikarjuna-Jyotirlinga. His worshiping was first done with Mallika flowers. This is the reason for the name Mallikarjuna.

Another legend is also told - this was once the capital of King Chandragupta, near the Saiell mountain. For the prevention of any misfortune, one of his daughters came out of the palace and came to the ashram of this mountain king and started living with the gopas here. The girl had a very auspicious beautiful Shyama cow . Someone used to take milk from that cow's milk at night. One day, by accident, the Rajakanya saw the thief milking and ran furiously towards the thief, but after reaching the cow, he saw that there was nothing more than Shivling. After some time the princess built a huge temple on that Shivling. This Shivling is famous as Mallikarjuna. A big fair is organized here on the occasion of Shivratri.

All the sattvik desires of the devotees who visit and worship this Mallikarjuna-Shivling are fulfilled. At the feet of Lord Shiva, he becomes a constant love. They are freed from all kinds of bodily, divine, physical obstacles.

Make us suffer On this, Brahmaji said that I am the only indestructible element in this world because this creation has been created by me. The world cannot be imagined without me. When the Gods asked this question to Vishnu, they said that I maintain this grazing world, so I am the indestructible element. The four Vedas were called to test it on the test of truth.
 The four Vedas said in the same voice that within whom the grasping world, past, future and present are merged, which have no beginning or end, which is unborn, which is beyond life-death, happiness and sorrow, gods and demons whose Worshiped equally, he is the imperishable Lord Rudra. On hearing such speech about Shiva through the Vedas, the fifth mouth of Brahma ji said some derogatory words about Shiva which the four Vedas were very sad to hear.

At the same time Lord Rudra appeared in the form of a divine jyoti, Brahma Ji said, O Rudra! You are born from my own body, I have named your name as 'Rudra' because of the more cry, so you come to my service, Shiva got terrible anger on this behavior of Brahma and he produced a man named Bhairava and said That you rule over Brahma. That divinely endowed Bhairava cut off the fifth head of Brahma, who used to say derogatory words to Shiva with the fingernail of the shortest finger of his left hand, resulting in the sin of brahmahatya . || Shri Somnath Mahadev Jyotirlinga ||

|| Shri Somnath Mahadev Jyotirlinga ||

 This jyotirlinga is installed in the world famous temple called Somnath on the sea shore in the Kathiawar region of Gujarat province. Earlier this region was known as Prabhaskshetra. It was here that Lord Sri Krishna made his leela end after making a  arrow medium named Zara. The story of Jyotirlinga here is described in the Puranas as follows-

Daksha Prajapati had twenty seven girls. They were all married to Chandradev. But all the affection and love of the moon was only towards Rohini among them. Due to this act, other daughters of Daksha Prajapati were very unhappy. He narrated his story to his father. Daksha Prajapati explained Chandradev in many ways for this.
But it had no effect on his heart under Rohini. Daksha eventually became enraged and cursed him to be 'decayed'. Chandradev immediately decayed due to this curse. As soon as they were decayed, all their work of improving the cold on the earth stopped. There was a tussle in every place. Moon was also very sad and worried.

Hearing their prayers, the Gods, Vashishth and the sages etc. went to the grandfather Brahma for their salvation. After listening to all the things, Brahma said- 'Moon should worship Lord Shiva with the other gods for his curse-release by going to the holy place of worship. By their grace, their curse will surely be destroyed and they will become diseased.
According to his statement, Chandra Deva completed the entire work of worshiping the Mrityunjaya god. He chanted Mrityunjaya Mantra ten million times while doing austerity. Pleased with this, Mrityunjaya - Lord Shiva granted him the boon of immortality. He said- 'Chandradev! You don't grieve You will be cursed and saved by my groom, as well as the words of Prajapati Daksh will be protected.

Every day, every one of your art in Krishna Paksha will be weakened, but again in the Shukla Paksha, each one of your art will increase. In this way every full moon you will get full moonlight. ' The people of all the worlds were pleased with this boon received by the Moon. Sudhakar Chandradev again started doing the work of Sudha-precipitation in ten directions.
Freeing the curse, Chandradev, along with other gods, prayed to the Shiva that you along with Goddess Satiji could live here forever for the salvation of life. Lord Shiva accepted his prayer and started living here with Jyotirlinga as
 Satiji.

The glory of this Somnath-Jyotirlinga situated in the holy Prabhaskshetra is explained in detail in Mahabharata, Srimad Bhagwat and Skandapurana etc. One name of the moon is also Som, he did penance here, considering Lord Shiva as his Nath-lord.

Therefore, this Jyotirlinga is called Somnath. With its philosophy, worship and worship, all the sins and misdeeds of the birth-birth of the devotees are destroyed. He becomes the character of the unending grace of Lord Shiva and Mother Sati. The path of salvation becomes easily accessible to them. All his cosmic and ecclesiastical acts are automatically successful.

Shiva and Shivaratri

Shiva and Shivaratri

One lotta water and one or two Bilv leaves make Bholenath happy, because he is hungry for emotion, not money. That is why he is considered the God of the common people .. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are called Tridev. Mahesh means Shiva is the Maha Ishwara i.e. the most important of the three gods. Shiva is considered superior in eighteen Puranas. Sadashiva is very easy-going, omnipresent, compassionate and will soon be pleased with the devotees. There is no need for much fanfare in their worship. They become happy with only one pot of water and, if possible, one or two bilv leaves . That is why they are said to be Ashutosh i.e. soon happy. Originally, they are the deities of Adivasis, Guhavasis, forest dwellers, poor and deprived people.

Shiva tale

 There is a story of Lord Shiva in Shivpuran, from which it is clear that he becomes very happy with a little service. A normal person settled on a Bilv tree to spend the night. The leaves of the tree were soaked with drops of dew. In the morning when he came down from the tree, he was filled with awe. In front of him stood a jatajutdhari, a snake in the neck, wearing a tiger skin, and a blonde colour man with and Ash covered on his body, which was adorned on the head by the half-moon. He said fearfully - who are you?

I am Kailashwasi Sadashiv. Pleased with your worship I have appeared to give you darshan. I did not worship you. The man said.

and what is this? Sadashivane pointed with a finger. The man saw, there was a Shivling, with a few drops of water and some leaves of the Bilv tree. He understood that a few drops of dew and leaves had fallen on this Shivling as he moved on the tree.

I did not worship you with any law. Unknowingly whatever happened. There is nothing to be happy

 no problem. As it happened, water and bilva-patra fell on the Shivling through you. My worship is complete.

 This shows that if there is a deity for the oppressed and neglected people of the society, then they are Shiva.

Mahashivratri is the fast of Devadhidev Shiva, who is generous in mind and well-being of all. When it is the fast of Mahadev, its importance is also more than other fasts. It is said in Shivpuran that this fast destroys the sins of crores of murders-

मघस्यह्यसितेपक्षेविशिसातिकीर्तिता।

निशीथव्यापिनीग्राह्यात्याकोटिविनाशिनी।। कोटिरुद्रसंहिता

As far as possible, it is considered appropriate to keep Shivaratri fast in a Shiva temple overnight. If the temple is not near, then this fast can also be kept inside the house. Pure clothes should be worn after bathing. By fasting, a person should perform Shiva-puja with material according to his ability. If there is no Shiva-idol or Shivalinga, then the Shivlingam of clay should be built in at least twelve. Awakening throughout the night, performing family dances, songs and bhajans etc. are always very happy. They are hungry for emotion, not money.

One thing needs to be clarified for the welfare of their devotees. Worship without a mantra is incomplete. It is also said in Sanskrit that the gods are subjected to mantras - mantradhina: gods. Fortunately, just as Sadashivaki worship is easy, similarly his mantra is also simple and worthy of chanting by everyone. This is the Panchakshari Mantra- Om Namah: Shivaay. One should observe Mahashivaratri fast while chanting this mantra.
